Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient’s condition, status, and arrival time. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Medical Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be an Emergency Medical Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
