OBGYN make more money if they deliver you?
They do make more money if you are induced. I don’t know anything beyond that.
whoever delivers you is the one your insurance will pay. My guess is she is saying it because usually woman want their doctor to be the one to deliver them. I wish mine would have, but she was out of town the 2 weeks prior to my due date, so I didn’t have a choice (csection)
yes, they make money for delivery. I guess if they were on call and did not have a lot of deliveries that would affect their paycheck. Mine have never said anything, they know i want to proceed naturally so they dont ask about induction. My office has 5 obgyn’s.

I had the same ob with all 3 babies and she didnt deliver any of them!!! My insurance still paid an arm and leg for all deliveries!
That’s interesting that they do make more and also more for being induced! I would like my Dr to be the one to deliver me but its not THAT important to me and especially if its for her own selfish reasons and not what’s best for me/her patient! Grr, that makes me mad.
My doctor is very against elective inductions and he flat out told me that it’s about money. At least in his practice whoever delivers gets paid for that delivery, so most of the doctors induce to make sure they are the ones who get paid.
It could just be that she genuinely wants to deliver you since you are her patient. Why does everyone always think It’s about money? If you dont trust she has your best interest then why have her as your doctor?
I think she is a great Dr and has provided the best care up to this point but all of a sudden is in a big hurry to deliver and it just seems strange… I’m thinking from the Dr’s point of view, if the baby is 100% full term and there is no risk in inducing, why wouldn’t she if she could make s couple extra bucks?
I think every hospital is different. I think that if a doctor doesn’t have enough deliveries it could affect their job performance. If there is a doctor at a clinic that no one books for appointments eventually that hospital will get rid of that doctor because they aren’t getting enough business. But that would take quite a long time because there are a lot of first time appointments that they need Drs for. Same thing with peds Drs. My first time at my clinic I had an awful woman and ended up switching and she eventually went part time because she didn’t have enough business. But if you call for an appointment somewhere they will book you with the least busy doctors first to give them something to do. All doctors want to have the most patients because it gives them job security.
I go to a group practice but each dr does their own patients and are on call for those patients unless they are out of town. They will do elective inductions after 39 weeks, but will never push, they just toss it out there, they also advise as a whole practice on not going over 41w, but again your choice.
